windream® 5.0

Enterprise Content Management (ECM) comprises the methods and tools that capture, manage and deliver content that relates to business processes. With ECM tools and strategies, your company's unstructured information can be managed.

windream® 5.0 is a world-class enterprise content management system that everyone can use - and SoftDesign has been appointed as the sole supplier for the UK and Ireland.

The unique attraction of windream is that it's the only ECM system that's completely integrated into the operating system. It's completely intuitive to use and needs no graphical user interface.

Easy handling and complete integration

The great thing about windream 5.0 is that it's so easy to use. In fact, if you can use Microsoft Windows Explorer, you can use windream 5.0.

The software uses a patented Virtual File System (VFS). It looks like all your other drives and you can save files there in the regular way. You can also copy or move files in and out of the drive. Unlike with other document management systems, you've no need for a separate graphical user interface, and you find files just by clicking 'Start, Search and windream'. Or just browse Windows Explorer.

Because of the way it's designed, windream has a low cost of ownership. This means it's great for organisations of all shapes and sizes. It's simple to use, but also packed with features, scaleable and modular. It includes imaging, archiving and SAP integration. You can even use windream remotely, with all the same features as through your browser.

windream 5.0 comes in three product variants:

  • The Standard Business Edition (SBE) - great for SMEs. The SBE includes document capture and indexing, several retrieval options, presentation of search results in lists, and viewing and editing of document properties.

e-MARC™

Email's great, isn't it? Instant communication with anyone, anywhere - and now accessible on so many different devices. But with the growing need to keep emails for compliance and legal purposes, their ever-swelling numbers can put a strain on your mail server storage.

What is needed is a system that will store, manage and allow access to emails over their entire lifecycle. The trouble is that leaving large volumes of messages in the mail server system can be expensive. More importantly individuals retaining their own messages is too risky - important emails that might be needed for audit or legal reasons may be stored in a local .PST file making emails not readliy available and worse still not backed up and easliy deleted.

So, you need to capture copies of messages on the mail server, yet still allow them to be delivered unimpeded.

That is exactly what e-MARC™ is delivering to customers worlwide, both here in the UK and to sites as far away as Australia.

e-MARC, developed by the experts at SoftDesign, first filters out any non-essential messages, such as newsfeeds, then copies the emails into a storage repository where they're managed through their lifecycle.

Among a host of great features is the ability to offer selected access to permitted users and the ability to alert administrators to delete messages at the appropriate time.

With this separate, secure storage location for emails, administrators can manage the prime server storage more effectively. They can clear the mail server and be sure that copies are always available, with users having access in a similar way as before.

You get managed email, helping your organisation comply with legislation and industry guidelines on document retention. You can even use e-MARC as an archive for other types of file.

Access and Retrieval

With e-MARC, access and retrieval is easy. Through stubs, you simply access archived emails and attachments directly from your email client as if they were still stored on the mail server. You can even access them remotely, using Outlook Web Access.

They're indexed using the key fields (Sender, Recipient, Subject and Date) as well as by textual content. This means you can search for emails just by some of the words or phrases within them. You get access to this email archive through the usual mail client, by web browser or through advanced searching tools from the repository's own search engine.

windream® BPM

Processes are defined within the windream BPM designer to meet the individual needs of your company. With a simple and flexible graphical interface, the designer allows system administers the ability to create, edit and control business processes using tools for the:

  • Specification of the process variables
  • Forms creation and assignment
  • Definition of timeline & process priority rules
  • Scripting configuration for seamless interaction between the BPM process and line of business applications for data exchange

The windream BPM Client lists the jobs to be done in the priority accorded to them in the design process. Jobs may be listed for an individual user or be available to a BPM group until a user accepts, processes and then commits the job to the next step. Process steps can be configured as either serial or parallel with processes containing a combination of both and each step can be either automated or manual. Users can be notified that a process is awaiting action by various ways which include logging into the BPM client or via email.

windream BPM provides users and management with an efficient tool for retracing processes by recording them in a detailed audit history and process reports are fully configurable as required.

windream BPM is also available as a web based application and allows BPM-users the ability to initiate and control business processes remotely freeing them from the constraints of a network-dependent client/server configuration.
