Migration Project - Matheson & Co

Matheson & Co Ltd were established in 1848 as a subsidiary of the Jardine Group and are based in the prestigious Lombard Street in London.

When the directive came from Head Office in Hong Kong to move from GroupWise to Exchange, Matheson realised they needed the help of an experienced and professional team of technicians. SoftDesign were awarded the contract of installing Exchange on a Windows Server.

A link was put in place enabling the two email systems to integrate thus facilitating the migration of users, department by department, with minimal disruption to the overall company. Users were able to email internally and externally and share address books irrespective of which email server they were on at any particular point in time. A secure VPN was also put in place between London and Hong Kong.

Following the successful completion of this project, SoftDesign were subsequently asked to migrate Matheson & Co from a Novell environment to a Windows environment. All data, print queues, groups, etc. were transferred overnight with Novell login scripts mapping to the new Windows data area and PCs reconfigured to print to newly defined Windows queues, so that there would be no loss of data.

Commenting on the project David Mulligan from Matheson & Co commented that it was "A tricky job very well done".
